In partnership with the University of Alaska, Prince William Sound College utilizes Zoom for most video conferencing tasks. Zoom web conferencing allows users to join with traditional hardware based video conferencing rooms from multiple remote locations. Those using Zoom need only a personal computer (Windows or Macintosh OS) or mobile device/tablet, along with a web-cam and microphone, either built-in or external. Alternatively, participants can attend a Zoom conference with telephone audio using a call-in number.

The University of Alaska has provided each employee with a free premium Zoom account. To claim your account, visit alaska.zoom.us and sign in with your UA SSO credentials.

More Zoom training materials and tutorials will be published soon!

The University of Alaska provides all students, staff, and faculty with a UA Google account. Access is primarily through the webmail interface, though it can be configured to work in various email clients. Because these accounts are run through Google, you will have full access to Google Apps, including Mail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, etc.

The Statewide Office of Information Technology has provided documentation on common Gmail questions and issues on their website.  PWSC will publish additional content and tutorials on this page soon!

Google

All users with University accounts have access to a free chat and video conferencing service called Google Hangouts/Chat. Just log in to Google mail (http://google.alaska.edu) and access Hangouts from the menu on the left (see image below). Search for the individual by email, and send a chat invite. The first time you contact them, they will need to accept the chat invite before you see them Online. These functions are available to all students, staff, and faculty with active University accounts.

For more convenient access, a desktop app is available in Chrome or Firefox

Microsoft

UA students, faculty, and staff also have free access to Microsoft Teams. This program features capabilities such as Chat, Audio/Video calling, Recording, File Transfer, Screenshare, and more. Visit the Microsoft Teams Download site for installation.
